So I purchased Revlon Grown Luscious Mascara this week. And for those who know me, this might come a surprise because I don't wear a stitch of makeup. The closest thing to makeup that I use on my face is tinted lip balm. So, what's the deal?! Okay, I've been having problem with gnats entering my eyes. Every time I step outside, gnats would be flying into them. My theory is – since my eyes are too large and I have no lashes to cover them, gnats love to take refuge in them. If my lashes were longer, gnats would be more likely to avert an invasion. I hope this product delivers its promise and validate my theory.
According to B.M. Drees and John Jackman, authors of Field Guide to Texas Insects, gnats are attracted to wet areas on your body including your eyes and can cause conjunctivitis or "pinkeye." Most people confuse fruit flies (Drosophila) with Chloropid flies because of similar appearance but if you look closely, they differ in antennal structures, eye gnats have simple hair-like projection while Drosphila has feathered arista; however different, they are both vexatious and unsanitary.
Here's a quick sketch for you. I am so tired and hope to retire to bed soon. I don't necessarily hate gnats, I just don't like them in my eyes.

I'm feeling some schadenfreude as I read this entry. Your words convey a certain sense of frustration that I imagine your brows furrowing as you're typing about it, thinking about how to avoid gnats (that and the title put me on the smiley face path).
Your eyes are not too large. You often look tired when I see you too, so it should be harder for gnats to get in. Your eyelashes seem super short now that I think about it. Perhaps you get so intense when dealing with the gnats that your eyes open up and then they fly in. Keep us posted if your theory works out.

LOL! Luckily, I haven't had any encounter with gnats. I was outside earlier and no gnats entered my eyes. Gnats don't like hot and dry weather, they prefer wet and cool. We'll see in the Fall.
